AIEM’s AHCP course is a blended learning course designed to meet the knowledge and practical needs of the provider working in the aviation medical environment. This course covers information and thought process vital to the healthcare provider in both a fixed-wing and rotor-wing environment.


This programme is designed for healthcare professionals who participate in the management of patients in any aviation environment. This includes personnel with an interest in this area of clinical practice. This course acts as a good refresher on clinical practice in the air, or an introduction to clinical practice in the aviation environment for those who have no experience in the field.

 Course Content

The manual used for this training is the Critical Care Transport Manual which covers all the content required for meeting the outcomes of this AHCP course.  This manual’s contents can be found here:

Mechanics of flight
Aircraft mechanics & legislation
Transport pharmachology
Patient assessment
Environmental / infectious /psych
Patient in the aircraft
12 lead ECGs


Course uses learning stations for practice of essential skills, simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active participation
Hands-on class format reinforces skill proficiency
Classroom-based activities promote group interaction and instructor feedback while learning skills

Course Completion Card or Certificate

AIEM course completion certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course, which carries 25 CPD points including 1 Ethics point.

Course Duration: Online theory component (around 3 days of work) and 2 Days practical simulation-based practical sessions in the simulated environment (both HEMS and fixed-wing environments)
