Description

This is a one-day course focusing on the application of knowledge through team-based simulations for the management of oxygenation, ventilation and airway in the critically ill or injured patient.

The EMOVA Frontline course is a course which covers the basics of airway, oxygenation and ventilation management for frontline staff. This course is set to meet the needs of the first responder/first point of contact in the crashing or arrested patient. Teaching basic skills and escalations to meet the airway, oxygenation and ventilation needs of the patient in a peri-arrest or cardiac arrest state.

Aims of the course:

  • To provide clinicians with a practical approach to the assessment and management of oxygenation, ventilation and airway management in the critically ill or injured adult and paediatric patient.
  • Enable clinicians to recognise the seriously ill or injured adult or paediatric patient and escalate approapriatly to maintain oxygenation, ventilation and a patent airway until further help arrives
  • To equip the clinician with an awareness and tools to assist as part of the advanced airway team.

Audience

The course provides training for:

  • Healthcare providers whose occupation or volunteer activities require oxygenation, ventilation and airway management skills
  • Professionals in the field of emergency care who need a basic introduction to the practical skills and thought processes that are used in the emergency care of the patient with an airway, oxygenation or ventilation problem.

Course Aims

  • To provide clinicians with a practical approach to the assessment and management of oxygenation, ventilation and airway management in the critically ill or injured adult and paediatric patient.
  • Enable clinicians to recognise the seriously ill or injured adult or paediatric patient and escalate approapriatly to maintain oxygenation, ventilation and a patent airway until further help arrives

Course Completion Card or Certificate

Students who successfully complete the EMOVA First Responder Course will receive an AIEM Certificate of Completion and CPD certificate.

Student Materials

Students are granted access to the online student resources for EMOVA (pre-reading and test for each learning area)
Student is required to pass each test before arrival to the course
Access is granted for 1 year from enrolment in the course

    – 5 classroom days

    – 80 notional hours

    • Learning is much the same, however, time requirement is intense 
    • Useful for the student to access credits in the case of RPL in the future
    • Adds nothing in terms of the practical ability to complete the skills​​
