The PEP (Professional Ethical Practice programme is a 5-6 hour workshop designed to meet the needs of the emergency care provider (paramedic, doctors and nurses) with regard to ethical practice in the emergency setting.

The course is designed to stimulate discussion and shared experience through interaction with a number of role-played scenarios and case-based interactions.

Aims of the course:

To provide clinicians with a practical approach to the assessment and management of difficult ethical situations and decisions within the emergency medical sphere.

To enable practitioners to apply the 4 pillars of medical ethics to situations and to engage with others in a meaningful way for best ethical practice

Course Duration:

2 hours online theory component getting student to engage in a prepared interaction focusing on one of the ethical principles presented in the contact session

5 to 6-hour online course presented in real time, discussion and case-learning allows for the content to be covered as required, with participants from all over the country on a single course online. The system used for this is Microsoft Teams


Post graduate, registered, medical professionals who are expected to provide care in the emergency medical setting

Course Completion Card or Certificate

Students who successfully complete the Ethics Course will receive an AIEM Certificate of Completion and CPD certificate.
